About
Mrs. Gunderson became interested in reading instruction when her youngest child was diagnosed with dyslexia. Teaching her daughter to read inspired her to become a reading specialist. Mrs. Gunderson has been helping struggling readers, both as a teacher and as a tutor, for more than a decade. She holds a master’s of education in literacy and is trained in both the Wilson Reading System and Reading Assist.
Originally from Nebraska, Mrs. Gunderson earned her bachelor’s in journalism, then moved to New York City to do public relations work. Looking for a more fulfilling career, she went back to school and earned a master’s in health education.
Mrs. Gunderson brings to CTA a heartfelt love for helping students learn to read, incorporating games, songs, and a sense of humor to teach struggling readers. Most of all, Mrs. Gunderson strives to help her students feel good about themselves and their budding reading skills.
